A premium location
Antonissen is building a unique residential development in the heart of Kortrijk, near Grote Markt and within walking distance of the station. Called D’Oude Vesting, this hidden gem is located in the historic centre, on the site of the former police station, on Jan Persijnstraat and Oude Vestingstraat. A golden opportunity for anyone wishing to experience Kortrijk in all its glory.
Contemporary architecture
The four small-scale volumes (two on each street) consist of 18 apartments with a commercial space on the ground floor. Each volume has its own height, depth and identity. There are two different types of façades: the first takes its inspiration from the typical, vertical city façades in the neighbourhood. The second is more horizontal. The white concrete and light-grey masonry contrast beautifully with the bronze finish and joinery in the same shade. The result of this architectural diversity is an integrated concept that blends in seamlessly into the streetscape.
Enjoying indoor and outdoor space
The apartments in D'Oude Vesting draw in the light thanks to the many windows on either side. The living areas in most units face both the street and the central courtyard. This quality outdoor space with lots of greenery is only accessible to residents. Green planting on the roofs further emphasises the development’s open character, increasing the sense of space and tranquillity.
Enjoying the quiet life in the heart of the city
You can sense that this is a premium location. While the neighbourhood is bustling, it is never busy. On the contrary, even. While city life continues apace a few streets over, D’Oude Vesting is a tranquil haven. From the rooftop terrace (and rooftop garden) of the two apartments on the top floor, you can see the market square, the Belfry, Schouwburgplein and the station… Talk about a stellar view!
Excellent access
Kortrijk is a great city for cyclists and walkers, which explains why D’Oude Vesting has a covered bicycle shed for 40 bicycles and an underground car park for 21 cars. Always useful if you need the car for your commute or want to go on a day trip. To charming Lille perhaps? With an excellent mobility score of 8.9/10, this location also offers proximity to public transport, schools, shops, banks, restaurants, bars...
“The city of Kortrijk offers a high quality of life. This project contributes to this. We are working on the responsible redevelopment of this site into residential units. Its central location ensures that future residents can fully enjoy this beautiful city.”

Kortrijk is alive
The city on the River Leie has changed considerably in recent years. The rehabilitation of the Buda Island with its summer beach, the station neighbourhood which has undergone a transformation with a large car park on the city’s fringe and extensive bicycle and bus connections to the city centre, the lowered Leie banks near the Broeltorens which are a great place to sit on sunny days, the new bridges over the Leie, the cosy and green city centre with its parks and bicycle-friendly streets... The list goes on. Kortrijk is very much alive!
City of architecture and design
Do you like contemporary design? Then Kortrijk is just the place for you. The city has hosted Biennale Interieur, a leading international design fair, for many years. There are also several innovative architectural projects in the city. Must-sees include creative hotspots, such as the Buda factory and tower, the redeveloped Texture flax museum and, for the bold at heart, the skatebowl. Have you already been to the K shopping centre? Go check it out! Although a stroll past the lovely little shops that line the city’s shopping streets is also always a pleasure.
Historic heritage
Besides being one of the trendiest cities in Flanders, Kortrijk is also the city of the Battle of the Golden Spurs. The city boasts several attractions, including the beguinage, the market square with its belfry and town hall, the Broel Towers and many magnificent townhouses. All these tourist attractions, which are all within walking distance of D’Oude Vesting, have lost none of their centuries-old charm.
Fine food
Are you a foodie? The city’s bars, restaurants and pubs cater to almost everyone’s taste buds. Go to trendy Nude, Sprezza or Jules Bar for cocktails and tapas or a coffee in one of the many coffee bars. Don’t feel like walking home after dining at Rebelle Marke (chef Martijn Defauw) or the Va et Vient on the banks of the River Leie? Just rent a shared bike or scooter.
Another popular place is Takeway Alta on the Buda Island, where you can buy pastries, bread and healthy fast food. Do you prefer to cook at home? There is no shortage of supermarkets. There is even an Asian supermarket just outside the city centre, called Truong Son. Definitely worth visiting!
Sports and leisure
There is lots of green space in the city centre where you can unwind. Like to take things up a notch? Check the new Kortrijk Weide district and its urban sports hall, which is popular with skaters and freerunners. Or would you rather take a dip in the new Olympic pool and subtropical waterpark (with the longest white-water course in the Low Countries)? Not into watersports? You can always burn some energy in one of the many sports clubs and gyms across the city or at the Lange Munte sports campus. The latter can be found in Hoog Kortrijk, in the green heart of the city, and has world-class sports infrastructure. Let’s go?
