Vacant building in Evere to be transformed into a green residential development

Antonissen Development Group is set to start building a sustainable residential development with 36 apartments in Evere’s Kolonel Bourgstraat. With Colonel’s Corner, Antonissen is building apartments of a high standard in the Brussels municipality with the largest population growth.

A vacant building becomes a green residential development

The vacant office building at 105 Kolonel Bourgstraat in Evere will soon make way for a new residential development. With this project, Antonissen Development Group is contributing to the neighbourhood’s upgrade. The development will comprise 15 one-bedroom apartments, 13 two-bedroom apartments, 6 three-bedroom apartments, 1 studio and 1 duplex apartment. There will also be a commercial space with adjoining office space on the ground floor.

Evere is booming

The project is one of several initiatives in the neighbourhood to convert former office buildings into residential developments in response to the municipality’s growing population. Statbel figures show that Evere’s population has increased by a whopping 19 percent over the last ten years. With the highest relative population growth in both the past year and the past decade, Evere is currently the fastest growing municipality in the Brussels-Capital Region.

With Colonel’s Corner, we are responding to the growing demand for housing in a fast-growing municipality, without compromising on sustainability or quality. We have purposefully opted for compact, energy-efficient residential units in a very accessible location. Besides buyers who intend to live there themselves, we also expect to see interest from investors. The region has significant rental potential due to its proximity to NATO, the large number of expats seeking temporary accommodation in Brussels, and the imminent completion of a new Belgian Defence headquarters nearby.

Green, sustainable living

With Colonel’s Corner, Antonissen is prioritising sustainability. The project will be completely gas-free and will rely on heat pumps and geothermal energy. Installation, maintenance and monitoring is handled under an energy contract with an external partner with residents paying a fixed monthly fee, without substantial upfront investments or unexpected charges. The system provides heating in winter and passive cooling in summer.

This system, in combination with green roofs, optimum insulation and a courtyard garden where residents can relax, combine to make Colonel’s Corner a residential development that is tailored to everyone’s needs. We consciously invest in sustainable technologies that work today but are also future-ready, benefiting the people who live in our residential developments.

New urban district with seamless mobility

Mobility and accessibility are more important than ever when choosing a home. Colonel’s Corner’s excellent location is confirmed by a mobility score of 9/10. You can get to the centre of Brussels in just 15 minutes by bike and a new bicycle highway is in the pipeline. The tram and metro are also within walking distance.

The residential development is situated in an up-and-coming neighbourhood, near the new Mediapark. Over the next few years, the area around the buildings of Belgium’s public broadcasters will be transformed into a lively, mixed-use neighbourhood. The main feature of this master plan is a public space covering almost 10 hectares, surrounded by schools, nurseries, recreational facilities, residential properties, etc. Colonel’s Corner capitalises on this urban development and the easy access.
