The 39 homes in our 'Coeur d’Îlot' development are all situated in the centre of Arlon. The development is part of the block of houses formed by rue de Neufchâteau and rue Seyler, and is situated opposite square Astrid and place Schalbert. The purpose of this development? To give a derelict plot of land a new use and develop a neighbourhood at the entrance to the city. Moreover, the project does not only entail the construction of a residential development. A new square will also be built opposite the shops.
On the site at the corner of rue de Neufchâteau and rue Seyler, there used to be a building that many inhabitants of Arlon frequented at some point in time. Originally home to a teachers’ college for girls until 1926, it was later used as housing for the families of gendarmes. By the end of the 1960s, the building was vacant. It fell into disrepair and was eventually demolished. The plot lay fallow for thirty years, but is now being given a new purpose, thanks to the construction of our ‘Coeur d'Îlot’ development
In order not to stand out from the neighbouring buildings, the ‘Coeur d'Îlot’ development is made up of modest, detached volumes with off-white plaster, a colour that contrasts with the dark mouldings of the large, vertical window frames. However, the mimicry of the building environment does not detract from the development’s contemporary look and feel. A few modern features create a surprise effect, adding a poetic touch that breaks through the regularity and monotony.
The studios and apartments in 'Coeur d’Îlot' all have wide windows that draw in a lot of light. Most apartments have a perpendicular positioning, with a south-facing terrace. Other ground-floor apartments even have private gardens. All the apartments have been equipped with home automation and comply with current EPB building standards.
The 39 residential units that make up the “Coeur d'Îlot” residence can be accessed via five separate entrance halls with a lift, and each unit has its own storage space in the cellar or attic. The parking garage on the first and second underground floors provides 59 parking spaces for residents. A bike shed with space for 20 bicycles can be accessed from rue Seyler and the private gardens.
"Friends told me about Antonissen Development Group and that is how I found out about some of their developments. I now own an apartment in Zurenborgpoort, which I bought for my children. My contacts with the Antonissen team were transparent and good every step of the way. I also liked that they sent me regular updates about the progress of the works. They even took photos to document the evolution of our apartment and the building.”
The capital of the province of Luxembourg, Arlon is one of the oldest towns in Belgium. Today, traces of this rich history linger in the city’s attractive cultural scene and unrivalled architectural heritage around which numerous activities are organised. This human-sized city has an increasingly dynamic centre with a large number of shops and a green living environment. This explains why we thought Arlon was the ideal location to build our “Coeur d'Îlot” development.
There is no lack of green space in Arlon and the neighbouring towns! There is a park with the same name, just a stone's throw from “Coeur d'Îlot”: a lovely green oasis in the city centre, just like the Gaspar and Léopold parks. The Attert Valley Natural Park, which is just a few kilometres from Arlon, is a great place for a stroll in green surroundings in the vast countryside. You can go on one of many signposted walks in this buffer zone between Anlier Forest and the famous cuestas of Lorraine.
Besides the shops and boutiques in the city centre, Arlon is also home to Belgium's largest open-air shopping area. Hydrion, conceived as a series of covered but open galleries, is the place to be if you like to shop at major brands. No need to go far if you need to do some serious grocery shopping, as “Coeur d'Îlot” is close to several supermarkets. So you have a wide range of stores to choose from for your retail therapy.
A typical feature of Arlon are the many restaurants and pubs where you can go for a drink and a bite to eat. In many places, you can enjoy traditional cuisine with a Belgian beer. Other restaurants serve more refined fare and come highly recommended by reputable culinary guides. Celebrating a special occasion or just don't feel like cooking at home? There are lots of places in Arlon where you can enjoy a tasty meal!
“Coeur d’Îlot” is ideally situated in Arlon, just 500 m from the city centre and its shopping streets. The station is just a 750 m walk from the development. The hospital (1,300 m) and the slip road to the E411 motorway (less than 4 km) are also nearby. Finally, we would also like to point out that Arlon enjoys a ‘strategic’ location, near the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and its capital, as well as France and Germany.
